Raidou hoped that Shizune wouldn't be offended if he put off drinking for the expectation that he'd be busy. If he had open time in the week and could allot time to the possibility of post-drunken misery, then he'd drink. It felt almost glacial to be so forceful in assuring he needed a day to recover from being drunk -- he was a procrastinator when ill and wasn't going to give himself an excuse to not get work done.
"I'll get back to you about next week, Shizune. If I am too busy, or need to focus on work, I'd probably skip drinking. And I'd hate to cancel for something so petty. It's safer to plan around my work."
He sighed, almost as if he was in pain, as Tsume mentioned age. He was in the "rounding up to 40" group and Tsume's knowing glance only dug the knife in further. Yes, he was approaching 40. Yes, that is old. But, really, he was quite fit for 40 and the fact he pretended his age didn't bother him was nothing but negative for his future health. He shouldn't let it bother him -- rather than pretending, he should proud of his age. With age came knowledge and he'd be damned if his expertise wasn't valuable. As both a user of kenjutsu and deadly poisons, he was a well of knowledge; the newer generations would definitely not be as well-versed in such things. He hoped Genma would be so willing to appreciate and respect these positives. After all, most of Raidou's worries regarding age had been from Genma.
"You're right, Tsume. It isn't great to say out loud that I'm not young anymore but my skill as a ninja has done nothing but improve. So, at least we have knowledge and experience to boast."
He gave Kakashi a light pat on the back in response to his whining, trying to console him. It was almost surreal to hear the mysterious ninja whine, actually; it became very apparent that, out of everyone, Kakashi was the most unlike himself when drunk. He kept up his talk with Tsume, however, smirking at her accusation that he was a lightweight.
"I'm going to place my honor on the line and hope that Genma will defend me here. I am very much not a lightweight -- In fact, I like to think I hold my sake very well."
