Kakashi was unsure why he had decided to invite all of his friends over to cram into his tiny apartment, but he had. They would be fine. He made this mistake every year, but it always made for memorable parties. Hopefully tonight would be the same, and they could talk about it for months and months till the next big rager came along. Another year older, another year to spend drunk half the time. Speaking of older, wasn't he too old to be acting the way he did? He didn't like to think so. He'd be getting drunk with his friends till they were old and grey (though many of his friends would joke that he was already old and grey).
His apartment was actually cleaned for the event, and there was booze lining the counter, along with red plastic cups. He'd pulled out a long table for beer pong, just in case, and he had cards set up in his living room for Kings Cup. While he appreciated gifts, he always hoped that no one got him anything. He despised writing thank you cards, but his father had raised him to be a better man that.
It was nearly time for the party to start, and Kakashi was dressed in casual jeans and a forest green button up t-shirt, sitting at his dining room table sipping on a beer. He was sans mask tonight, merely so he could drink it up without having to worry about people seeing his face. Who cared. He hoped people would get so drunk they wouldn't even remember his birthday.

After a long day of teaching and an afternoon at the missions office, Iruka decided he was allowed to cut lose and enjoy himself. After all, it was a comrade’s birthday. He shouldered his duffel bag and he looked through an assortment of alcohol. The teacher figured that the Copy Nin probably supplied himself with enough alcohol to ensure an eventful night, however, he didn’t want to show up empty handed either. After all, the Jounin had saved his life quite a few times. It was only proper to show appreciation. A coworker suggested a nice sake so that’s how Iruka found himself detouring at the liquor store. He toyed with the idea of new shuriken, kunai, or explosion tags but that’s be the equivalent of someone giving him office supplies on his birthday; appreciated but who really wants to think about work during a celebration? Other than that, he drew a complete blank.
With a sigh, Iruka grabbed one of the nicer bottles of Sake and went to check out. Now that that was out of the way, he made quick work of getting home and getting ready. It’s been so long since he wore something other than his uniform, he actually had to rummage around a bit to remember where his civilian clothes were. He finally found them in the back of his closet. He didn’t really have many choices. Iruka decided on black jeans and a white long sleeved shirt. He normally steered away from lighter colors simply because it was hard to get blood stains out of them but he wasn’t going to Kakashi’s with the intention of a fight. Though, he wouldn’t be surprised. He frowned at himself in the mirror, feeling strange without his uniform. He wasn’t sure if the jeans would still fit considering they were from ages ago, but all seemed well. He’d have to put the civilian clothing to use eventually otherwise it’d just take up space. He was about to grab a brush and put his hair back when he decided to leave it down. Why the hell not?
He stuffed a few emergency items into his pockets into his pockets, pulled on a pair of boots he got during an undercover mission from way back in the day, grabbed the Sake bottle and headed over. It wasn’t a long until he was standing outside the door and gave it a polite knock.

A knock? Usually Kakashi was used to his friends barging on in, but a knock meant it had to be one of his more genial and polite comrades. Yamato? He guessed as he walked over to the door. No, too easy. Perhaps Aoba? Raidou? Opening the door soon proved him wrong. Ah, Iruka. Of course. And the chuunin was sporting a different look as well, his hair down and casual clothes on. "Iruka. Yo. You're the first one here." He stepped aside to let the chuunin in.
He shut the door when Iruka stepped in and gestured to his apartment with a wide sweep of his arm. "Welcome to my apartment." Not that Iruka hadn't been there before, but it was a nicety to welcome him. His eyes did a quick sweep of the chuunin. "Nice clothes. I haven't seen you look this casual in years." He teased. Kakashi's eyes didn't miss the bottle in Iruka's hand. "Oh? What's this?" He knew exactly what it was. "You are planning on imbibing, right? Of course, no pressure, but it wouldn't be my birthday if people weren't at least a little drunk." He grinned.

Iruka followed him in after removing his boots at the door and raised a brow at the excessive alcohol. Everything was ready for an eventful evening, whenever the others arrived. Fingers were crossed for Gai challenging Kakashi to a drinking competition. If it didn't happen right away, he'd have to politely suggest/instigate. There was a mischievous side to Iruka yet.
He smiled modestly at the compliment and shifted the bottle in his hands. "Thanks. I can't remember the last time I dressed down." said Iruka as he scratched at the scar across his nose, a nervous habit he never managed to break. "Oh, yeah." He said as he looked down at the bottle before handing it over. "Happy Birthday, Kakashi! I figured you could use it now or save it for a rainy day." Iruka glanced over at the counter top again. "Though, it seems you have more than enough."

"More than enough?" He teased. "I should hope so. I am friends with a bunch of drunkards who don't know when to stop." He chuckled. He was remembering Genma at his birthday party last year, clothes in disarray as he mumbled to himself things he would never had said aloud while sober. Kakashi sorely hoped that this birthday was better than the last and they could continue to laugh at themselves and their debauchery.
"Ah, and thanks." He responded to Iruka's 'Happy Birthday' "Another year older, I guess." He didn't seem very happy about it. His glory days were coming to an end and it was clear that he tried not to think about it. He was closer to 40 than he was to 30. When had that happened? Kakashi set the sake bottle on the counter next to the rest of the booze before turning back to Iruka. "When was the last time you went out? I haven't seen you at a bar in ages."
