Name: Kiba Inuzuka Gender: Male Age: 18 Birthday: July 7th (Cancer) Height: 5’8” Rank: Jounin Registration: 012620
appearance Kiba’s facial markings are tattoos, just as all Inuzuka’s are branded with. He often gets irritated when they are called make up, simply because of their importance to his clan.
When not in mission clothes, Kiba dresses very casually, mostly tee shirts and shorts, pants or jeans, or long sleeved boat necks and hoodies. He doesn’t like anything uncomfortable, and wears mostly neutral and unsaturated colors, such as beige, tan, gray, black, as well as dull colors. He typically only dresses in his missions clothes for missions, these days, forehead protector included.
Since the war, Kiba wore his flak jacket often, proud of his strength and position as a jounin. Since Naruto became Hokage, he has only put it on for missions.
His lower lip often sports cuts or scabs from him worrying it, which often ends in blood thanks to his sharp canines.
personality
Kiba is wild and hot-headed, and this makes him very impulsive—as such, he often needs balancing out from more level-headed teammates to ensure he looks before he leaps.
While he isn’t stupid, Kiba does tend to be oblivious at times, and oftentimes misses subtle thing if he doesn’t know to look for them. When it’s someone he is protective over however, the opposite is true, capable of noticing the slightest shift in mannerisms to indicate there may be a problem—and generally, he is not shy about asking what’s wrong with them, as well.
Though Kiba often comes off as cocky, or at least confident, over the years this has become more of a front, as he’s developed a bit of an inferiority complex as his rival surpassed him so far, so quickly. He tries not to let this on to anyone, focusing his determination on a goal he’s become sure he won’t reach.
Once a lazy ninja who rarely practiced, and even then, only after his mother had shouted at him, Kiba now practices almost daily to hone his skills and improve himself.
Kiba has entomophobia, though this is a more recent development—he never particularly minded bugs until being paired with Shino. They skeeve him out a lot, but the fear isn’t so great it affects his abilities.
People often assume that as a dog lover and owner of a ninken, Kiba dislikes cats—this is untrue, and Kiba generally loves all animals, going out of his way often to help them out.
Kiba doesn’t treat people with respect for the sake of it—he believes it is something you have to earn, and while he isn’t cruel, this often makes him come off as rude. There are few adults he treats with immediate respect, mostly being Kages and his sensei—but he doesn’t see a higher rank as immediate indication of being smarter, and will disregard orders from people he doesn’t feel he owes respect to. family
Out of respect for Akamaru, Kiba does not eat chocolate, although he has indulged a few times—he couldn’t exactly say no to Hinata’s cooking.
In a similar regard, Kiba tries to avoid meals with other foods dogs can’t eat (onions, garlic, avocado, several fruits, etc.) simply because Akamaru expects a share of it—however, he is fine eating these things as long as he knows he isn’t splitting his meal with his dog.
While his ninken does not speak like Kuromaru’s, Kiba can understand him perfectly, and usually has no trouble understanding and communicating at least basics of feelings and emotions to other dogs as well.
Without Hana’s cooking ability, the Inuzukas would probably be eating dog food. That said, Kiba had learned how to cook several meat dishes, but his best talent is literally preparing meals for Akamaru ninja info cards
Kiba’s goal of becoming Hokage is completely legitimate, regardless of having used it to taunt Naruto in the past. Like Naruto, he has strived for this goal since he was young, part of the reason he decided that the boy would serve as a good rival. Since Naruto taking the post however, he has essentially abandoned the goal.
His dream has always been to have a rematch with Naruto—however, he no longer sees much point in such a thing, well aware such a match will end in his defeat. He sometimes wondered why he ever thought Naruto would be a good match for him in the first place.
Kiba and Akamaru, on their own or as a team, are the best scent trackers in all of Konoha, short of his mother. Many of the missions they get involve being the trackers for another team, resulting in them having to cooperate often with unfamiliar ninjas.
His nose is already enhanced above the level of a common canine, but when he concentrates his chakra to his sense of smell, he can track people from great distances, to the point where he can keep tabs on their status.
Kiba can communicate with canines—though this does not often come in handy on missions, it has assisted things a few times in the past for him.
Though he cannot win with brute strength alone, Kiba is strong, and more importantly, he is fast—this allows for him to utilize his clan’s ‘hit-and-run’ technique, to get in quick hits while being hard to land a blow on himself. Additionally, he has amazing reflexes and is very perceptive.
Despite not being very smart or interested in the field, Kiba has some medical knowledge. While he can't do medical jutsus, Kiba knows a fair amount about medicinal herbs and is skilled at recognizing them--by scent at least. With this knowledge, he can make poultices, salves, and stop bleeding with the right mixes of herbs. It is a somewhat outdated form of medicine, but in a pinch without a medical ninja around it can be useful, and has saved his life before.
misc.
Kiba's favorite scent is cinnamon sugar.

bonds
the deadlasts - team 8 - family - konoha 12 - others
the deadlasts kiba, naruto, shikamaru, and chouji made up the deadlasts, a name that stood for their place in the class ranking. the four boys often skipped class together to eat or relax, often getting on the nerves of their teacher, iruka. though the group didn't always get along, they did everything together. since their time in the academy, the deadlasts also worked together, with neji, on the mission to retrieve sasuke. their shared experiences and failures have helped to shape a powerful friendship.
naruto // spicy miso ramen When Kiba was young, he was oftentimes one of the boys picking on Naruto with the rest of the crowd, calling the boy a loser and going along with everyone else. Even when the four of them hung out, Kiba preferred Shikamaru and Chouji, and viewed Naruto as something of a nuisance. It wasn't until after the chuunin exams when Kiba finally started to view Naruto as a friend. Eventually, he marked Naruto as a rival, as they were both competing for the same dream, striving to best. He has never succeeded. He and Naruto get on well, both on their own or with the rest of their group, but similar personalities have a tendency to clash, and both their competitive natures often cause problems on missions. He will go out of his way to prove himself Naruto’s equal, to the point of compromising missions. Because of this, Kiba and Naruto are rarely paired up--their track record is terrible. Though he will rarely admit it, a lot of Kiba's jealousy towards Naruto is centered around how Hinata feels about the young Hokage. Because he often feels he has to prove himself Naruto's equal in Hinata's eyes, he tends to get even more competitive, and argues a great deal more with him than he typically does.
Regardless, he has always considered Naruto one of his best friends—no matter how competitive or jealous he might get of the boy, he would always do his best to help him in any way he could. Recently however, Kiba has been very distant and cold with Naruto, very put-off by the obvious gap in their abilities and dealing with his own inadequacies. shikamaru // wood & tobacco smoke While Kiba has never been able to understand Shikamaru's lack of energy and motivation, he considers him one of his best friends, and trusts him with his life. He is well aware that Shikamaru is a tactical genius, always feeling more comfortable to have the jounin commander in his corner. The gap in their skills has never particularly bothered Kiba, possibly because he's never considered him a rival. Rather than being jealous over his friend's high ranking position and abilities, he is very proud of the shinobi, glad that despite his laziness, he's accomplished so much.Shikamaru's level head is the reason Kiba often turns to him for more personal issues, things he doesn't always feel comfortable discussing with Naruto or Chouji. He depends a great deal on Shikamaru for issues Akamaru or his family can't help him with, and Shikamaru often knows what's going on with Kiba before anyone else. Even when Kiba doesn't tell him his issues, Shikamaru is normally perceptive enough to notice a difference in Kiba's attitude on his own.The only part of Shikamaru's new position that does rub Kiba the wrong way is that he's the Hokage's Assistant--Naruto's assistant. Back when the two boys were still competing for the title, Kiba had asked Shikamaru to be his assistant when he became Hokage--and while he's sure Shikamaru would have stood by him if he'd managed to get the position, he can't help feeling a bit betrayed. The fact of the matter was probably that he always knew Naruto would be the one to reach Hokage, and Kiba is a little bitter over that as well.Kiba isn't fond of the fact that Shikamaru has taken up smoking, but doesn't see it as his place to comment on it. The worst part initially was the stench of the smoke, but Kiba has grown accustomed to it, thinking of it more as part of Shikamaru's scent than the cigarettes. While he wishes his friend would quit, he is aware that it is part of Shikamaru's way of dealing with what happened to Asuma, and doesn't want to risk upsetting the shinobi.
chouji // barbeque seasoning & autumn leaves
Out of all the deadlasts, Kiba finds Chouji the easiest to speak to and get along with, as he feels they are close to being the same level. He doesn't feel like he has to prove anything around Chouji, but not to an extent that makes him cocky about it--simply that he views the pair of them as equals. Kiba is always one to indulge Chouji’s eating habits, happy to hang out at whatever food place the other would prefer to meet at. He can get a bit snappy with Chouji when the other doesn't share the meal however, turning trying to get yakiniku into quite the dispute. Though he’s not comfortable admitting it, Kiba gets a bit jealous of Shikamaru and Chouji’s friendship, as well as Naruto’s relationships with others. He sometimes feels he has no friends who would place him as their best friend if they had to pick just one.
team 8
kiba, hinata, shino, and kurenai make up team 8. initially, kiba wasn't optimistic about his placement, having hoped for other extroverted people that he could get along with. he had some trouble trying to speak with the shy hyuuga and the aloof aburame--and it didn't help that he was very aware that he was paired with two children from the noble clans while he was just an inuzuka. however, they found their rhythm as a team very quickly, and kiba is proud of the growth he's seen in both his teammates. hinata // cinnamon sugar When Kiba first met Hinata, he found himself put off by her soft-spoken nature--however, she grew on him quickly, and Kiba found himself admiring her desire to improve herself and her skills. When she asked her teammates to help train her, Kiba agreed with no qualms, happy enough to help even without the bento she makes for them in return. Kiba is very protective of Hinata, and will go out of his way to look out for her. He has always encouraged her to improve, but cautioned her against things that were, for the moment, out of her reach, not wanting her to get hurt. His feelings towards her are more than platonic, but he is well aware of her feelings for Naruto, and sees no reason to act on his own. shino // sage & honey Despite liking to be in charge, Kiba is very comfortable letting Shino be the team leader. He knows Shino is wiser than him and more capable, tactics wise. He rarely argues with Shino's orders unless he is extremely against them--which is rarely the case. Outside of missions, Kiba and Shino argue often, and though the Inuzuka respects him, he isn’t sure Shino would say the same to him. They butt heads often, both carrying differing views and values on many subjects. Shino is very blunt with Kiba, and while it's sometimes grounding, it more often than not only frustrates Kiba further. Kiba needs a degree of sensitivity at times, and that just isn't something Shino seems capable of. He has a hard time understanding Shino, oftentimes more than put off by his ever-serious demeanor, and hearing Shino laugh still haunts his dreams. He has developed mild entomophobia thanks to the Aburame, having been traumatized by Shino's insects on more than one occasion. He refuses to take baths with Shino now, fairly sure he'll never forget the horrible side-effects of having insects inside you when you bathe. kurenai // rose petals & asuma
Since her pregnancy, Kiba has been very protective of his sensei, trying to do his best not to add additionally stress on her and trying to look after the team while she is preoccupied. He checks up on her daily, always offering to fetch groceries or meals or whatever she needs. He sometimes sends Akamaru to look out for her while he trains. konoha 12 sakura // sasuke // sai // paint ino // flowers neji // probably pretentiousness tenten // iron & ink lee // sweat family Akamaru is Kiba’s best friend, and closest companion. Kiba and Akamaru can understand each other flawlessly and Kiba speaks to his dog about a lot of his troubles, though Akamaru doesn't always know the best solutions for human issues. Hana and Kiba both have different fathers, and neither know who theirs is. Tsume could easily not know, or just refuse to tell them, for whatever reason. While he doesn’t know how Hana feels, he has little to no desire to learn who the man was. He often jokes that is mother scared him away, but has no idea whether or not this is true. Though Hana and Kiba argue constantly (the Inuzuka clan’s household is likely the loudest in the village with all the arguing), they get along very well when they aren’t, Kiba often confessing his troubles to her for advice. Tsume’s brand of tough love has no always been Kiba’s favorite, but he does love his mother, regardless of how scary he may or may not find her. When either of the two is upset, Hana, Kiba, and their ninken sleep together in a giant dog pile—Tsume joins rarely, not one for touchy-feely sort of things but wanting to attempt comfort. others
kakashi // dogs & rain asuma // tobacco smoke & ?? gai // sweat genma // pumpkin & cinnamon raidou // sandalwood shizune // tsunade //
Izumo and Kotetsu // syrup & fresh paper and salt & fresh paper
While Kiba was never close to the chuunin when he was young, with Asuma out of commission, Kiba, as well as the two chuunin stepped up to try and look after her, and they would cross paths sometimes, forcing them to spend time together. While he didn’t get too close to Kotetsu, he became quite friendly with Izumo, and even if the chuunin is a bit embarrassing to talk to sometimes, Kiba does like spending time with him.
